Q&A: Commercial Disbursement Analyst

We have many unique individuals who make up our National Commercial Team here at Title Source. We sat down for a Q&A session with some of the team members who fill these various roles. Let’s get to know more about Commercial Disbursement Analyst Melissa Wallace.

How would you describe your role at Title Source National Commercial?

It’s a very important role. We need to make sure all of the money gets disbursed and wired to the correct account in the correct amounts.

Where does disbursement fall in the commercial process?

We’re nearly the last step in the closing process. The closing happens and we receive authorization from all parties to disburse. After that, documents are recorded, final updates are done to title and policies are issued.

You’ve been with the company for 12 years. What was your background before this role?

Previously, I worked on the residential disbursement team for seven years.

What are the differences between residential and commercial?

They’re very similar. You send out checks and wires. The real difference is the dollar amount. While there is not as much volume as residential, the dollar amounts are much larger on commercial transactions.

What do you enjoy about your job?

I love numbers. I love trying to make things balance, but I really enjoy the people I work with.

What one skill should an applicant have, if they’re applying to be a disbursement analyst?

Anyone who enjoys the crunching numbers and making things balance would enjoy this position.

Do you have a fun fact or something most people don’t know about you?

I make custom cakes when I am not here at Title Source. When I’m not making cakes, come winter, you can find me out on the slopes snowboarding while my son skis.
