Title searches may increase values for historic homes

Many residential homeowners are learning that they may be able to make their property's value increase by taking part in a title search, according to the Chicago Tribune.

When a homeowner searches for the history of their home, they could find something that shows it has a point of historical significance, or a list of the work that has been completed on it. These things are important because it can add to the value of the home, or help the homeowner understand why the home is worth the price, according to the news source. This can be very important if a person decides later on to sell their home.

"I create a house story whenever possible," Jennifer Sheedy, an Arizona real estate agent, told Realtor Magazine. "I find that a house with a story draws more traffic, moves more quickly and sells for more money."

This is another reason to give consumers regarding why they should do a title search, as they may find something interesting about their home that they previously were unaware of. The monetary benefits may be secondary, but could be an important perk.
